Registration is simple and only takes a matter minutes. To start the signup process, click on the “register” link at the top of this page. Only users 18 years of age or over are able to register.

The next step is to fill in all your information, failure to supply all the required information will result in an error.

By clicking on the “Register” button from the bottom of the page, you will be redirected to a page with a link to the payment gateway if we have the signup fee activated, or to a confirmation page, if signup is free.

Your account will be activated instantly if there is no signup fee, or once the payment has been confirmed by the payment gateway.

Account Verification

Knowing and trusting both buyers and sellers online is an important issue.

To aid in this, we have implemented an account verification security system into NNYLive Auctions. This is a two part verification system consisting of a Paypal account verification AND a phone number verification to verify that auction members are really who they are, that they reside where they say and that they can be contacted by the phone number provided.

Account verification is optional however, Buyers can purchase in confidence from sellers who have been verified and Sellers can trust that the verified buyer is who they say they are. Members who are NOT verified will see a text link at the top of their members area stating that they are NOT verified with a link to get verified.

Advantages to becoming verified:

A) Verified sellers can be recognized instantly by the PP graphic and the 'Bid with Confidence' graphic in the sellers information area of every item they are selling.

B) Verified paypal members will receive a $15 credit to their auction account.

C) PPV Verified members can elect to sell ONLY to other PP verified members.

D) Most important...buyers and sellers will know that they can TRUST you!

The second verification part is a phone number verification. When you verify your account with this feature we will call the number you provided (on our dime) and provide you with a 4-digit code to enter. Once you enter this code, your phone number is verified.

Account Funding

Although listings are fee, fees are charged for each item sold and certian optional features. Sellers should make sure they have adequate funds available in their accounts at all times to cover such fees.

Even though funds are automatically deposited to your account for various reasons such as referrals, account verification and other reasons, you should keep track of your account balance to make sure your account doesn't exceed the amount of credit we've authorized. (Check your credit limit in your members area). If this happens, your current auctions and/or store products will be suspended and no longer viewable.

It's real easy to fund your account with more money! Simply access your members area and select any 'Fund Account' link. Next step, enter the amount you wish to deposit and select 'Fund my account'. You can pay using most major cards such as Mastercard, Visa, Discover credit or debit cards or via your Paypal account.

If you have any problem or question regarding funding your account, click on the 'Contact Us' link at the top of all pages.

Members Area

Members Area Once you have successfully logged in using the login forms from the main page or from the login page (click on the “login” button from the page header), you will be redirected to the members area page. This page is divided into four tabs:

a. Bidding On this page, you will be able to see the items your currently bidding on, as well as the status of the bids, items you have won, and watched items. By clicking on the “Auction Watch” link, you will be able to add keywords for auctions your interested in. An email will be sent to your email address every time an auction that will contain the keyword in its name or description will be submitted. By clicking on the “View Details” link from the Won Items area, you will be able to see the details of the seller, and make contact with him in order to perfect the sale.

b. Selling There are three areas available on this page. The “My Opened Auctions” area, where you will see details of auctions you currently has open; if no bids were submitted yet on an open auction, you are able to edit the auction. The “My Closed Auctions” area, where you will see the auctions submitted by yourself, and that were closed. You can choose to edit, delete or re-list a closed auction. On the “Sold Items” area, you will see the items you have sold, and by clicking on the “View Details” link, you will be redirected to a page where you will see the details of the buyer. If an end of auction fee is set from the admin area, then the seller will have to pay for the end of auction fee in order for you to see the buyer details. If, after the seller has contacted the bidder, and no sale has been made, you can claim back the end of auction fee. By clicking on the “Claim back end of auction fee”, a claim back request will be sent to the site’s administrator, and will be evaluated for fee refunding.

c. Feedback From this page, you will be able to see the feedbacks you have received, and leave feedbacks to other users.

d. Details You can edit your personal information using this page, except for your username. You can also change the password for the account. If the password and confirm password fields are left empty, and then the password will remain the same.

If account mode is activated for your account, you have a 'credit account' with us and your account balance is displayed near the top of page. A '$5.00 credit' would indicate that you have a positive balance and Debit indicates a (-) negative balance. Select the 'View your invoices' link to view deposit history details, your credit limit with us and account status.

WARNING: Sellers... If you reach your credit limit, your account and any current auctions will be suspended until you deposit funds into your account. If posting an auction and posting fees exceed your limit, you will be prompted to add funds to your account. If you sell an item and the 'End of Auction Fee' exceeds your balance, you will not be allowed to view the buyer details and will be notified to fund account. Select the 'Account Funding' icon either at the top of page or in left panel to fund your account. You WILL receive an email notification if your account is suspended prompting you to add funds.

The best way to avoid any of the above scenarios is to keep your account adequately funded at all times, particularly if you sell items using Dutch Auction/Buy Now or have a store.

How To Sell

Once you have signed up for an account, you will be able to sell items through the site.

If you wish to know how much it will cost to list an item before actually listing it, click on the 'Selling' link in your members area and select 'Fees Calculator' at the top. Fill in the selling price and check the boxes for any additional features you wish to add to your listing. The amount returned is the fee that would be charged to your account (less end of auction fee) or that you would need to pay up front by Paypal or Credit Card, if we have not authorized you a credit account with us.

In order to do that, you will have to click on the “Sell” link, and you will be redirected to a page, you can then select the main category of the product or service you want to sell. This feature has been made in order to ease the subcategory choosing process. No items can be sold by choosing only the main category; you will have to choose a subcategory for it.

The second step is entering the auction details, settings, payment methods available, and choosing a category. The first image that will come with the auction is free of charge, but the admin may charge for adding additional pictures.

On the Auction Settings tab, you can choose the type of the auction, the start price, whether to activate buy now or set a reserve price. Also, you will be able to choose what type of bid increment to use, the progressive one implemented into the site, or a custom one. If you choose the custom one, you will have to enter an increment value.

You will also be able to choose promotional options such as whether to feature the item, bold listings etc and the duration of the auction.

After setting the location, shipping and payment and subcategory, and by clicking on the “Next Step” button, you will be redirected to Step Three, where you can review the auction before submitting. If everything is in order, you can click on the “Submit” button, and will be redirected to the payment page, or a confirmation page, if no fees have to be paid. The auction is activated once the payment is confirmed by the payment gateway, or instantly if you have available credit in your account, or if no fees need to be paid.

Remember, we do NOT charge any fee for regular listings. Fees are only charged for additional listing perks and when you sell an item.

How To Bid

If you have spotted on item you would like to place a bid on you can do so quickly and easily by following these steps:-

(1) Login to your account – If you have not registered you can do so within 5 minutes

(2) Visit the auction page or store

(3) Towards the bottom of the auction description page you will see a “bidding box”, you can use the shortcut link to the bidding box if you wish.

(4) Enter in your bid, note you must bid above the minimum bid required

(5) Click on the “place bid” button

(6) You will then be asked to confirm you bid, once you have done so your bid will be entered, if successful you will receive a confirmation message. If your bid fails to outbid the current high bidder you will be offered the option to place a higher bid.

Proxy bidding can aid your chances of winning an auction and help avoid you being outbid at the last moment. To place a proxy bid enter in the maximum price you are willing to pay for the item. If another user places a bid on the same auction automatic bids will be placed on your behalf in accordance with your maximum bid amount. With proxy bidding you will pay the lowest possible price until someone else places a higher bid.

There is another way of bidding: Buy it now auctions. Buy it now prices are set by the seller, if you agree with that price, you can click on the “Buy Now” button which is displayed on the auction details page. After clicking on the button you will be re-directed to a confirmation page. On a standard auction that auction will end instantly as the item has been sold via Buy it now. On a Dutch auction, you can enter the amount of items you wish to buy (depending the quantity available).

If you purchase less than there are available in total, the auction will remain open with the number of items left available after you have purchased the amount you want.

Feedback system

Once a sale has been processed, both the seller and the buyer will be able to leave feedbacks for each other. The feedback rating is from one star to five stars, and a feedback comment can also be left. The feedback can be left from the “Feedback” tab from the Members Area. The feedback can only be left once, and it cannot be edited afterwards.

The site admin will reserve its right to delete malicious or untrue feedbacks.

Dutch auctions

On a Dutch Auction, the auctioneer has more items of the same product for sale. The bidder will enter a maximum bid he is willing to pay for an item, and the number of items he wants to purchase. The highest bidder(s) will receive the number of items they have bid on, and the remaining bidders will receive the number of items still available. Buyers are able to bid more than once for the same item. Dutch Auctions may also be 'Buy Now' auctions in which the seller has a quantity of the same product but NO bids are accepted. You may purchase any quantity of the product at the 'Buy Now' price. If you purchase a number of products from a seller like this and wish to purchase more of the same, log out of your account and clear your browser cookies/session data before attempting to purchase more of the same item.

Item watching

The item watch features lets you keep a close eye on any auction without having to place a bid on it. This feature means you can be kept up to date on how an auction is doing and prepares you to place a winning last minute bid. You can watch any auction by clicking on the “Watch this item” link on any auction page.

Stores

NNYLive Stores are for Business Account members and allow them to list products either in Store Only or both Auction System AND their store. You should list all store products as Dutch Auction with 'Buy Now' and set the number of products you have available. Store owners may also create their own particular categories if our auction categories don't fit your product requirements. IMPORTANT: See 'Custom Categories' section below for procedures to add custom categories to your store.

Custom Categories:

You may add any number of custom categories to your store by following the steps below:
  1. Select the 'category management' link at the top of your store and add your category names in the blocks provided. If more than 5, simply enter the first 5 and click on 'Submit'. You will then be allowed to enter up to 5 more. Continue this procedure until all of your custom categories are entered. You may set the order of display by entering a sequential number in the 'Order' column. If you do not 'Order' your categories, they will display in the order they were entered.
  2. Next locate the new custom categories you created which will be displayed in the LEFT panel. Select each new category and move them to the RIGHT panel using the appropriate arrow button. After you have moved all the categories you wish to display in your store, select 'Save Settings' again.
  3. At this point, you will see a GREY bar at the top of the page containing the text:
"You have made changes to your category structure, please update those changes by
clicking [ HERE ] when you have finished." Click on link.
  4. Now run the sub-category generator by clicking on the button.
  5. Now select the 'SELL' tab at the top of the page and view your store. If all went well, your custom categories are now showing.

Media Uploads

At NNYLive auctions we allow you to upload media video in AVI and MPEG format only. This way all uploaded media is rendered with QuickTime media player and will load and play in the browser window when your auction item loads. This feature should be used to upload movie trailers if selling DVD movies or, if you have made a 'Home Movie' to describe the product you are selling make sure it is formated in AVI or MPEG format. Please limit the size of the upload file

MPG files may be uploaded however people viewing your item using the 'FireFox' browser will NOT be able to view the movie as FireFox has NO plugins to view MPG files. Only IE 5+ browsers, including 7.0 will see your movie.

The disadvantage to uploading a movie clip is that when a visitor views your item, it will take much longer to load. As most visitors are impatient and may be on a dial-up connection, we discourage using this feature.
