On Thursday, March 18, 2010 Axelle Fine Arts will showcase the urban landscapes of Patrick Pietropoli which features the shifting perspectives of Paris, New York, Venice, and Florence. Pietropoli's canvases are extremely detailed, large-scale works that characterize the city as an entity. Each painting utilizes color to convey tone, meaning and mood where Pietropoli's devotion to detail and lighting make his seemingly-still images come alive. The gallery will also feature a small collection of the artist's evocative figure paintings. Pietropoli recently moved from Paris to Brooklyn and will be attending the opening reception. The show will be on display from on March 18, 2010 through April 17, 2010 at Axelle Fine Arts, 535 West 25th Street, NY, NY. The reception is from 6pm to 9pm and is by RSVP only.
May 6th, 2010 - Laurent Dauptain Opening Reception at Axelle Fine Arts

<span style='font-family: 'Arial Narrow''>On Thursday, May 6, 2010, Axelle Fine Arts in Chelsea will showcase the works of Laurent Dauptain. The artist combines a variety of brushstrokes to define facial features and the quality of the contours for his signature self portraits. His landscapes and cityscapes take great liberties with brushstroke to infuse a sense of movement evoking impressionistic style.<span style='font-family: 'Arial Narrow''> <span style='font-family: 'Arial Narrow''>Born and raised in Paris, Dauptain is a graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1981) and the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs (1983). He received a master's degree in Aesthetics in 1984 and has won numerous awards for his large scale abstract self-portraits, including the Grand Prix of the Salon des Peintres de l'Armée (2003), the Taylor Prize (2001), and the gold medal of the Salon des Artistes Français (1997). Each painting Dauptain creates represents how the artist views himself. While he continually paints representations of his face, his attention to detail and experimentations with different styles, texture and pallets are always unique. At times, his compositions appear to be abstract, but upon further examination, a face always emerges. The gradual aging of the painter over the years, the refinement of his techniques and pictorial mastery, his passion for art and his experience all combine to offer art lovers a collection of substantial and incredibly complex works. Laurent Dauptain will be attending the opening.<span style='font-family: 'Arial Narrow''> <span style='font-family: 'Arial Narrow''>The show will be on display from through May 29, 2010 at Axelle Fine Arts, 535 West 25th Street, NY, NY. The reception is from 6pm to 9pm and is by RSVP only. Reservations can be made by calling (212) 226-2262. For more information on Axelle Fine Arts Gallerie and Laurent Dauptain, please visit www.axelle.com.
